Plan your 2027 in a notebook: Moodboard Dream Big, Being Delulu is the Solulu and Mint Matrix notebooks, Photo Card Holder and affirmation cards

How to plan 2027 in a notebook: a vision board journal you'll actually keep

Every year it's the same story. On 1 January you write "2027 goals" on the first page of a fresh notebook, list ten big things, and by February the notebook is somewhere under the bed.

This year, try something gentler. Plan the year in a notebook you actually like opening, turn the big dreams into small steps, and keep one little reminder in sight every day. And you don't have to wait for January. An undated notebook lets you start in November, on your birthday, or on any random Tuesday that feels like a fresh start.

Here's a simple way to build a vision board journal for 2027, page by page.

Why a notebook works better than a wall board

Vision boards are everywhere around the New Year, and they're lovely. But a board on the wall is one page. A notebook gives you the board and the room to plan, track and write about how it's actually going. It's private, it travels with you, and it holds the story of the year, not just the wish list.

It also doesn't need a dated planner. With a plain A5 notebook, there are no empty January pages staring at you if you start late, and nothing goes to waste if you skip a week.

Step 1: Close 2026 before you open 2027

Give the first two pages to the year that's ending. It sounds backwards, but it makes your goals far more honest. Try these prompts:

  • Three things I'm proud of this year (small counts).
  • One thing I'll stop doing in 2027.
  • A moment I want to remember: a trip, a chai, a phone call, a festival.
  • What drained me, and what filled me up.

If you junk journal, this is a nice place to stick a ticket or a photo from 2026. Our list of things to put in a junk journal has plenty of ideas.

Step 2: Choose three to five life areas

Ten resolutions is too many. Pick three to five areas that matter to you right now, for example:

  • Self and health
  • Career or studies
  • Money
  • Relationships
  • Dreams, travel and fun

Give each area its own heading. Under it, write one sentence about how you want that part of life to feel by December 2027. Feelings are easier to hold on to than numbers.

Step 3: Make your vision board spread

Now the fun part. Open to a double page and make it visual:

  • Cut out pictures from old magazines, brochures or printouts.
  • Add a printed photo of a place you want to visit.
  • Write one or two words in big letters for the year: "calm", "brave", "build".
  • Layer on stickers, washi tape and scraps of paper.

Don't aim for perfect. Messy, layered pages feel more like you. If you'd like everything in one box, The Moodboard Junk Journal Kit has 8 sticker sheets, 18 craft sheets, washi tape, glue and scissors, plus its own A5 notebook. It makes a vision board spread an easy evening project.

Step 4: Turn every dream into one small step

This is where most vision boards stop, and where yours keeps going. Next to each area, write the smallest action you could take this month.

  • "Travel more" becomes "Save ₹2,000 this month for the Rishikesh trip".
  • "Read more" becomes "Ten pages before bed, four nights a week".
  • "Get better at my job" becomes "Ask for feedback once this month".

Being delulu is fine. Just give the delusion a to-do list.

Step 5: Add a monthly page and a habit tracker

At the start of every month, give yourself one page with:

  • Three priorities for the month
  • One habit you're building
  • A small tracker: draw 30 or 31 boxes with a ruler and tick one off each day

At the end of the month, write three lines: what worked, what didn't, what you'll change. That's it. Twelve of these and you'll have a real record of 2027.

Step 6: Keep one reminder in sight

A goal hidden in a drawer is easy to forget. Pick one thing to keep on your desk or bedside table every day: a photo of the trip you're saving for, your word for the year on a card, or a single affirmation.

Our Photo Card Holder (₹199) is made for exactly this. It's a tiny hand-painted wooden stand that holds a Polaroid, a postcard or a card upright. Swap what's in it every month to match that month's focus.

For a daily nudge, the Manifestation & Positive Affirmation Cards (₹399) are a deck of 30 cards across six life areas: self, relationships, career, money, health and dreams. Each card has an affirmation plus a one-minute action step, so it's a small push, not just a pretty line. Pull one in the morning and copy it into your journal. (Want more on this? Here's our gentle guide to manifestation journaling.)

Pick a notebook that matches your 2027 energy

Our notebooks are all A5 with smooth 80 GSM paper, a satin ribbon bookmark and a flat-lay design, so they stay open while you stick and write. Softcovers are ₹399 with 128 pages, and hardcovers are ₹450 with 160 pages.

A New Year gift that actually gets used

If you're looking for a New Year gift for a friend, sibling or teammate, a goal-setting notebook with a Photo Card Holder is a thoughtful pair. It says "I believe in your 2027" without being preachy. Add an affirmation deck for the friend who's starting something new.

Review, don't restart

The secret to a vision board journal isn't the first page. It's coming back to it. Put a reminder on the last day of every month to flip back to your vision spread, look at your tracker and write those three lines. If a goal no longer fits, cross it out kindly and write a new one. That isn't failing. That's growing.

Pick a notebook, close 2026 gently, and give 2027 a page of its own. You can start tonight.
